  • As a counselor, I have made the decision not to accept insurance for several reasons. One primary factor is the desire to prioritize the confidentiality and privacy of my clients. When utilizing insurance, certain information about the counseling process, including diagnoses and treatment plans, must be shared with insurance companies for reimbursement purposes. This compromises the level of confidentiality that I believe is crucial for a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Additionally, not accepting insurance allows me to have greater flexibility in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each client. Insurance companies often impose limitations on the number of sessions and the types of therapies covered, which may not align with the individualized care that I strive to provide.

By operating as a private-pay counselor, I can focus solely on the best interests of my clients without being restricted by external policies. This approach allows for a more personalized and comprehensive therapeutic experience, promoting a higher level of client satisfaction and well-being. I understand the financial considerations involved in counseling, and I am open to discussing sliding scale fees and alternative payment options to ensure that my services are accessible to those seeking support.
